Smart Networks for Emergency Connectivity
Enhancing Community Preparedness and Resilience under Increasingly Catastrophic Environmental Conditions

Empowering communities through technology
The Connectivity for Community Disaster Resilience project - led by engineering Honours students at the ANU - aims to improve early flood detection for flood-prone communities.
Through a resilient, decentralised network of rain gauges and creek-level sensors, reliable data will be made available to locals in real-time. Designed to operate off-grid and independently of cellular infrastructure, this system ensures that communities stay informed even during network failures and power outages.

As an ongoing project, this iteration primarily aims to improve communication range, thereby providing accurate, real-time flood intelligence to communities that need it.
This initiative intends to support proactive decision-making for emergency services and communities, minimising risk, optimising resource allocation, and enhancing disaster resilience.
